A West Lothian woman is set to embark on a charity 58km trek in Iceland.Kirsten McCormack will be taking part in the epic adventure alongside some Lloyds Banking Group colleagues to raise funds and awareness for Crisis - one the UK’s leading charities for people experiencing homelessness.Kirsten is set to fly out to Iceland on September 6, returning four days later.Speaking to the Courier, she said she was excited by the challenge and has been getting plenty of miles into the legs before her big journey. She commented: “I’m not actually a big hill person so I’ve certainly had to do lots of practising.

There’s been lots of walking the Pentlands and hopefully that stands me in good stead for going to Iceland.“There’s not any mountains that we’re walking and there’s plenty of hills and ups and downs so I’m sure it will be fine.“I’ve no doubt it will be one of those experiences where you realise how enjoyable it was after you’ve done it - but it might not feel like that at times when we’re on the trek.“It’s good to be doing it in a group and having colleagues.

We can all keep each other’s spirits up if things get tough for anyone.”Kirsten is hoping to raise £4000 with the challenge - a figure she’s well on the way to matching with the total currently sitting at over £2800.She added: “The idea is obviously to raise money but awareness as well.

Each of us is aiming to raise £4000 which would be a brilliant figure if we’re able to reach that target.“But along with that, we want to raise awareness about homelessness.
