Woman Says She Divorced Her Husband For 'Stranger Things' Star Dacre Montgomery Catfish, Sent Him Over $10,000

A woman is claiming that she was scammed by someone pretending to be Dacre Montgomery! The Kentucky woman, named McKayla, said she started a relationship online with who she thought to be the 28-year-old Stranger Things actor.

The Youtube series Catfished revealed that McKayla divorced her husband after hitting it off with a user who began “doing things” that made her believe he was Dacre, who plays Billy on the popular Netflix series. Keep reading to find out more… McKayla said, “I am obsessed with Stranger Things.

Billy is just this bully. He kind of comes in, tries to dominate, which is totally unlike his actual personality.” According to Mckayla, her bond with the user believed to be Dacre began when the person vented about their “controlling” partner. “I kind of empathize with that because my ex-husband was that way,” McKayla said. “At about a year after we kind of admitted feelings for each other, he said, you know, ‘There’s nothing like, you know, the feeling of love when it’s reciprocated.’ And I said, ‘What?’ And he said, ‘I’m indirectly asking you out.’” The user posing as Dacre claimed that he wasn’t “technically with” current girlfriend Liv Pollack, yet told McKayla to “keep [their relationship] quiet.” Poems sent in the style of Dacre‘s collection titled DKMH: Poems, as well as the user’s request for McKayla to watch the Stranger Things Season 4 episode “Dear Billy” to see the actor’s surprise appearance, convinced the woman that she was communicating with Dacre.

The scam intensified when McKayla sent around $10,000 to the user pretending to be Dacre after he said that he could not make his own purchases due to his and Liv‘s joint bank account. McKayla cited her experience with her ex-husband as a reason
