Two men arrested over 'arson' after iconic Crooked House pub destroyed by fire

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after the historic Crooked House pub went up in flames earlier this month.Officers have confirmed they have arrested a 66-year-old man, from Dudley, and a 33-year-old man, from Milton Keynes, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

As reported by the Mirror, they remain in custody and are being questioned by officers. The investigation remains ongoing and local police are continuing to appeal for information.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 10pm on August 5 after the alarm was raised. At least 30 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze.

The Crooked House pub in Himley, West Midlands, was known as the UK's wonkiest pub because of its iconic slanted shape. Detective Chief Superintendent Tom Chisholm previously said in a statement: “We understand the significance of this much-loved building and the upset and anger felt by many, so we want to reassure you we’re doing all we can to understand more about what happened, and who was responsible.”A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police: "Detectives investigating the fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley have arrested two men.
