Train services from a Greater Manchester borough have been cancelled 'until further notice' after torrential downpours caused the tracks to become flooded.
Flooding between Wigan Wallgate and Southport has caused all lines to close. Services running to and from both stations will be terminated at Wigan Wallgate.
All stations between Wigan Wallgate and Southport will not be served, National Rail said. Network Rail staff are aware of the flood weather and are on site managing the issue, with trains currently unable to run in both directions. Affected passengers can use their ticket onboard Merseyrail services between Liverpool Lime Street and Southport at no extra cost.
