Tragedy as man in his 50s dies after medical episode on north west beach

Police later said a man in his 50s tragically died at the scene, having suffered a medical episode not further described. A file has been passed to the coroner ahead of a possible inquest being opened, reports the Liverpool Echo. People in the area reported seeing a significant emergency service presence this afternoon.
Part of the beach in Sefton, which is between Southport and Formby, was said to have been cordoned off as police and paramedics attended.
