Tony Macaroni shuts restaurant down in 'unexpected' blow to town

A Kilmarnock restaurant closed its doors for the final time at the weekend.Bosses at Tony Macaroni called time on their brief stint in the town in what's been described as an 'unexpected' move.The chain restaurant, which specialises in Italian-inspired pizza and pasta dishes, reportedly closed their Queen's Drive outlet on Sunday evening.And less than 24 hours after shutting up for good, the signs for the restaurant had been ripped down.Chiefs at the Scots firm, which boasts 15 venues across Scotland and Northern Ireland, have yet to give official notice that the chain has pulled out of the town.However, a social media post, reportedly from a senior manager at the Viva Italia, the company that owns Tony Macaroni, broke the news to customers.Siobhian Leslie, who according to LinkedIn, is a general manager at the hospitality firm, said with a "heavy heart" on Friday that the Kilmarnock restaurant would be closing.She wrote: "Tony Macaroni will close its doors after service on Sunday, June 30 It's with a very heavy heart and very unexpected.

"We want to thank every single one of our customers for your support and we hope that in the near future we will see you all again."Tony Macaroni has now closed two of its Ayrshire restaurants in just over 12 months.The Irvine outlet was closed in May 2023 after four years of trading.

While the Kilmarnock eaterie lasted less than two years.Both Irvine and Kilmarnock venues were retrofitted after Frankie and Benny's pulled out of Ayrshire.Largs is now the only Tony Macaroni left in Ayrshire with multiple branches still operating in Glasgow and beyond.
