Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's eldest son, Marius Borg Hiby, was arrested on Sunday night due to a serious incident in Oslo. The 27 year old was taken into custody for over 30 hours following an alleged altercation with a woman in her 20s at an apartment in the upscale Frogner district.

Norwegian magazine Se og Hr reported that Borg Hiby is accused of both 'psychological and physical' assault on the woman, who subsequently required hospital treatment for a concussion but was released early Monday morning.

It's believed he was placed in solitary confinement and underwent a blood test to determine if drugs were involved. Se og Hr quoted police saying: "A person was arrested and charged with assault and later released from custody." Meanwhile, publication Dagbladet described the scene of the incident as a wrecked apartment.

Marius Borg Hiby, who is Princess Mette-Marit's son from before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, whom she met in 1999, is now said to be staying at the Royal Skaugum estate with his mother, who is 50.The incident led to a change in Royal plans; Princess Mette-Marit was expected at the men's 1500-metre final at the Paris Olympics last night, but instead, Crown Prince Haakon attended solo, reports the Express.
