Toni Collette almost could have been Bridget Jones in the Bridget Jones’s Diary films. However, the 50-year-old actress is looking back at passing over the part, and revealed that she has no regrets at all. In a previous interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Toni opened up about why she actually passed on the role in the first place.
In addition to appearing in the Broadway musical “The Wild Party” at the time, Toni adds that Bridget reminded her of Muriel. “I wasn’t available, but sometimes I think about that, and I think, I don’t know, that character’s so similar to Muriel,” she noted, referencing Muriel’s Wedding. “It might’ve been too close.
