There’s a new update about the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which are set for this weekend. Following Drew Barrymore dropping out as the host of the event, MTV has shared a statement about what’s going to happen with the event. Keep reading to find out more… According to Deadline, Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming and Events at Paramount Global, revealed that the show will essentially be a clip show instead of what they originally had planned. “As we carefully navigate how best to deliver the fan first awards’ show we envisioned that our team has worked so hard to create, we’re pivoting away from a live event that still enables us to produce a memorable night full of exclusive sneak peaks, irreverent categories our audience has come to expect, and countless moments that will both surprise and delight as we honor the best of film and TV over the past year,” he stated.
In a previous statement, Bruce said that the show would have had “exclusive sneak peeks of the big films that are to be released” as well as a live performance.
However, since it has turned into a clip show, it’s safe to say that the live performance has been nixed. Read more of Drew‘s statement about why she decided to drop out.
