dailyrecord.co.ukThreave Rovers caretaker Paul McGinley reckoned Saturday’s draw at Irvine Victoria was a point gained. The game between the two sides in Ayrshire finished 1-1, Alex Henderson’s early opener for the Castle Douglas side cancelled out by Kevin Adam just before the break.
McGinley said: “After 30 or 40 minutes I would have said we were really unlucky not to be two or three up, but at the end of the 90 minutes I was delighted with a point and I know they were as well. “We started quickly on the front foot and took the game to them. “Credit to them, they were excellent in the second half, we really had to dig deep and we did – we persevered and we stuck at it. “They used their presence well, they have good quality strikers, but I felt we dealt with them fairly well.
It wasn’t cultured or calculated, it was end-to-end and proper pure entertainment for the neutral and it was a cracking game of football. “I think the more the boys are playing at this level they understand you either roll over or roll your sleeves up. “I’ll never, ever fault their effort and commitment, it’s absolutely immense.” Ahead of Saturday’s game, Threave boosted their squad by bringing in Finlay Kennedy from Queen of the South.
The youngster started on the bench after moving to Meadow Park on loan for the rest of the season. McGinley said: “He’s a great addition to the squad, he’s another teenager and he comes with energy and enthusiasm. “He’s a left sided boy – we’ve never been able to find that quality left sided player and with the stage of the season we’re at, it’s been very difficult. “We pursued Finlay for a month and he’s in until the end of the season. “We’re still trying to pursue another loan deal but it’s quite difficult at the
