Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (born Rachel Meghan Markle; August 4, 1981) is an American member of the British royal family and former actress.
Markle was raised in Los Angeles, California and has a mixed ethnic heritage. During her studies at Northwestern University, she began playing small roles in television series and films. From 2011 to 2017, she played Rachel Zane on the American legal drama Suits. She is an outspoken feminist and has addressed issues of gender inequality, and her lifestyle website The Tig featured a column profiling influential women. She represented international charity organizations and received recognition for her fashion and style, releasing a line of clothing in 2016.

The actress and writer, who starred in a number of BBC, ITV and Channel 4 sitcoms and was a regular guest on This Morning, passed away at age 35 on Wednesday, September 13, just one year after welcoming her daughter Opal.
In a statement announcing her death, her family revealed that she had got the "rare and aggressive" brain cancer diagnosis shortly after the birth of her daughter.
Maddy never publicly announced her brain cancer diagnosis, and prior to a post on 30 June, she hadn't posted on Instagram since October 2022, presumably around the time of her diagnosis.
