The Amy Schumer Barbie Casting Drama Isn't What You Think

Which is totally fair! Robbie surely going to eat and leave no crumbs come July, when the film hits theaters. That said, much of the commentary seems to imply Schumer was dropped from the project because of her appearance.

This content can also be viewed on the site it from.Schumer was originally near the end of 2016 before announcing her decision to leave the project four months later in 2017 due to “scheduling conflicts.” But in an interview with last year, the comedian and actor revealed the real reason she chose to drop out. “They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it,” she recalled.
Schumer signed on to cowrite the script as well as star in the movie. With her sister and writing partner, Schumer penned what was described at the time as “a fish-out-of-water tale about a woman who gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough." In Schumer's version of the story, Barbie was supposed to be an ambitious inventor.
