Tartan Army fans under threat from hooligans to be protected by undercover cops at Euros

Undercover police officers will be deployed to protect the Tartan Army at the Euros from a double threat of hooligans and terrorists.Police Scotland revealed it will send spotters to mingle with fans in Germany when the Euro 24 finals kick off in Munich next month.

At a meeting behind closed doors they warned that Scotland fans travelling to the games should be aware of their surroundings at all times.Police Scotland met three weeks ago with the SFA and the Association of Tartan Army clubs over their safety concerns.German law enforcement and anti-terrorism squads will remain on high alert in the run up to and during the matches being played in stadiums across Germany.Notorious German hooligan gangs, known as Ultras, have publicly threatened to disrupt the Euros.Local police in German cities including Munich, Hamburg and Cologne are particularly concerned about the danger of trouble and violence from German and international fans looking to start trouble as well as over fears that ISIS and other terror groups could be planning an attack.Hamish Husband, spokesperson for the Association of Tartan Army Clubs, said: “The Association of Tartan Army Clubs had a meeting with the Scottish Football Association three weeks ago.“The question was asked more specifically about any new threats, including hooliganism.“Police Scotland told us they will have spotters in Germany and they also said that it is important for those travelling from Scotland, who will be the second biggest travelling support behind England, to be aware of their surroundings.“That was a takeaway.”UEFA and the Home Office are jointly responsible for the safety and security of Brits attending the Euro 24 tournament.Officially, there is no specific threat.But
