Strikes to close North Lanarkshire schools for two days

All schools across North Lanarkshire will close for two days next week in the latest strike action in the dispute over teacher pay.Primary, secondary and additional support needs (ASN) schools and the authority’s 57 term-time nursery classes will be shut to youngsters on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 28 and March 1.

It will take the total of strike closure days to five since industrial action first started in November, with teaching unions having rejected the latest Scottish Government offer of an 11.5 per cent wage increase over two years.

There will not be any school meal provision, breakfast clubs or school crossing patrols, and school transport will not be running.”Direct bank payments or posted Paypoint vouchers will be issued to those receiving free school meals based on low income.
