Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Stewartry youngsters shine at Dumfries and Galloway Schools Gymnastics Championships

Stewartry schools shone at the Regional Schools Gymnastics Championships held at DG One recently.The event, organised by Active Schools, was a huge success and saw many Stewartry schools achieve super results.Castle Douglas Primary School kicked things off in the pre level category, with the team winning a silver medal for their combined scores.

Team member Grace Cook also won an individual silver medal for her overall performance.In the level one category, teams from Gatehouse, Twynholm, Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie went head-to-head with Olivia Dickie from Gatehouse Primary winning gold for her overall performance.In the level two section, Kirkcudbright Primary School had an excellent competition finishing with a bronze medal as a team.In the secondary schools, level 1 teams battled it out for top spaces with Castle Douglas High School being awarded a team bronze and Douglas Ewart High School gaining a team gold.

Douglas Ewart also secured some individual medals with Ruby Heaney being awarded a bronze medal and Georgi Frame a gold for her overall performance.

In the level two category, Castle Douglas High were crowned team champions for their exceptional performances, with team members Lexi Low also picking up individual bronze and Skye Hiddleston picking up individual silver.
