Sophie Kasaei has opened up about her financial struggles during the early days of Geordie Shore. Despite the fame and success that came with being on the show, Sophie, 33, who was one of the original members when the MTV series debuted in 2011, has admitted that she found it difficult to make ends meet on the show's salary and shared that her earnings were not as substantial as fans might have assumed.

Speaking on the False Economy podcast, she told listeners: "When we first started the show we got absolutely nothing.” She added: "The most we ever got was £1,000 a month and we couldn't survive on that, obviously after tax as well." In contrast to the opportunities available to modern reality stars through social media sponsorships, Sophie and her fellow cast members did not have that luxury during the early days of the show.

Sophie revealed that some of her co-stars even had to work two jobs to supplement their income during certain periods, and despite the show's success, she and others found themselves working in a call centre to make ends meet.

While some cast members felt hesitant to return to a normal job after being on the show, Sophie opened up about the fear of not having a regular income.
