SNP pulls general election campaign video with song featuring sexually explicit lyrics

The SNP has pulled a campaign video after it used a song which includes sexually explicit lyrics.In a clip shared on TikTok, the Nationalists promoted a range of their best-known policies - including the Baby Box given to new parents - to the soundtrack by Pretty Girls Walk by American rap artist Big Boss Vette.

The song is marked with an explicit disclaimer on steaming platforms such as Apple, as it features lyrics such as: "No matter what the f*** these h*** talkin' 'bout, just know you a bad bitch, every motherf*****' time that you wake up, and you look in that motherf*****' mirror".Another line includes the phrases: "s******' on my ex, on to the next, he know this p***y good 'cause he always come back".The SNP told the Record the TikTok post has now been taken down.The use of TikTok by political parties to promote campaign messages has soared in recent years.But the social media giant remains controversial over the security of users' data and its links to the government in Beijing.Big Boss Vette first went viral in 2015 for creating her own version of Dej Loaf's song "Try Me"The 26-year-old signed to Republic Records after her song "Bad Bitch" saw success on YouTube.Politicians from both major US political parties have called for a law that bans TikTok unless owner ByteDance agrees to sell the app to a non-Chinese company.They fear the Chinese government could force ByteDance to hand over data about TikTok's 170 million US users.
