A property in Stockport which plagued residents with 'serious antisocial behaviour' for over 10 years has now been closed down.
Residents in Robinson Street, Edgeley, have spoken of their relief at the end of a 'horrible era' after the Safer Neighbourhood Team at Stockport Homes, working with Stockport Council and Greater Manchester Police, brought an application for a court order to take action against the property and its tenant.
The Closure Order was granted at a hearing in Stockport Magistrates Court on July 25. It means no one is permitted to reside in, or visit, the property for a period of three months. There had been complaints of drug dealing, criminal damage, threatening behaviour and verbal abuse, residents say.
Some neighbours stopped allowing their children to play out after finding used needles in gardens. One woman alleged the property was used as a drug den and would see 'strangers from the street' drifting in and out during the early hours of the morning, shouting and breaking windows.
