A 'severe' flood warning has been issued for part of Greater Manchester, with residents urged to 'act now'. An area close to Lee's Bridge in Astley Bridge, Bolton, is expected to become flooded today (Wednesday).
Heavy rainfall across the region has caused river levels to rise. A yellow weather warning for rain warning, which covers all of Greater Manchester, came into force at 6pm yesterday (Tuesday) and lasts until 9pm tonight. READ MORE: I know I put the public in danger - but this will have a massive effect on my social life The Environment Agency has said properties on or near to Viola Street, Blackburn Road, Greenwood Vale, Old Road, Seymour Road, Berkeley Road and Moss Bank Way, in Bolton, are at 'severe' risk of flooding.
The situation is being 'closely monitored', it says. People in the at-risk area are being advised to do the following: A flood warning has also been issued for the Upper River Douglas area in Wigan.
The alert covers an area stretching from Horwich Star Vale to Appley Bridge including Adlington, Blackrod, Wigan, Standish, and Gathurst.
