EXCLUSIVE: Sean Young will make her New York stage debut as slain B-movie star Susan Cabot in an Off Broadway production of Rider McDowell’s play Ode To The Wasp Woman.
The play, which begins previews Oct. 30 at The Actors Temple Theatre, chronicles the last 48 hours in the lives of four 1950s B-movie actors: Cabot, the leading lady of the Roger Corman’s 1959 cult classic The Wasp Woman; George Reeves, star of TV’s Superman; Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer of the “Our Gang” comedies; and B-movie queen and Bride of the Gorilla star Barbara Payton.
Opening night for the 13-week engagement is Thursday, November 9. Casting for the other three featured roles will be announced at a later date.
Forwood C. Wiser produces. In a statement, Young called the play “a sly cautionary tale about ambitious people who work in Hollywood, become desperate, and how show business chews them up.
