Scots mum trolled for leaving kids behind to travel says it 'benefits everyone'
dailyrecord.co.ukA mum-of-three has been slammed for ditching her three kids and husband during the summer holidays to travel alone instead.Ivana Poku already ruffled feathers by taking one of her son's on holiday – leaving the other two behind as they had to go to school.
But despite the criticism, the maternal mental health advocate is determined to keep marching to the beat of her own drum. For one of her next trips abroad, she decided to leave her whole family at home.The 40-year-old from Fife, Scotland, recently jetted off to the Czech Republic.
She left her husband, eight-year-old twins and toddler, behind so she could have a relaxing break. When she returned, she hoped to feel more recharged.Despite it being “difficult” to leave her family behind, Ivana says her seven solo nights in Prague have been “amazing”.
In fact, she believes more parents should consider trips alone.“It’s been amazing — it’s even better than a spa weekend,” Ivana said. “I’ve stayed with my friends for one week and it’s been very good to recharge.“My friends know how hard I’ve had it throughout the years, so they spoil me rotten and have been pampering me.”Ivana originally went on the trip to attend a wedding, but decided to extend it to spend some much-needed solo time.
