A new mum discharged herself from hospital two weeks after giving birth following a "lack of consistency and care" from medical staff.Louise Williamson, 31, claims she was subjected to "unacceptable care" at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and was "repeatedly ignored" when she began to suffer worrying symptoms shortly after welcoming her baby girl. The mum said she waited five hours for a bed after being induced at the hospital on February 5, 2024.

She was told by staff she was 8cm dilated but then later found out she was only 2cm after being taken to a labour ward. Her waters broke and she required an emergency C-section.

Her healthy daughter was delivered but Louise started to feel severely unwell and developed an infection - which she claims was ignored by staff. She was later taken to theatre to treat the infection four days later.

She told Edinburgh Live : "The care I received was not acceptable. I was induced on February 5 and given a time to go in but when I arrived I waited five hours just to get a bed. "They got me hooked up to the machines but nothing happened.
