The parents of a 16-year-old schoolgirl allegedly handcuffed and taken to a police station for trying to get her school leaver's shirt signed have hit out at police and the school.

The GCSE student was allegedly reprimanded at Ormiston Horizon Academy, in Chell, this week, following a dispute with school staff over an end-of year taking place. Her parents say officials did not make them aware of the incident after Staffordshire Police were called by the school to deal with a number of students refusing to leave the grounds.

The youngsters wanted their shirts signed and to say goodbye to fellow pupils but had been banned from the event, resulting in a stand-off with school staff. As reported in Stoke-on-Trent Live, the girl's dad said: “We had no contact through the school, we only knew because of other children.

I went to the school and nobody knew where my daughter was. They are more bothered about the school’s name.“But they’ve made a mockery of the children, made a circus of them, that’s all they’ve done.
