Since May, the Eternal City has hosted the world premieres of “Fast X” and “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” two blockbusters that burned rubber and wreaked havoc on its cobblestoned streets. Universal held its “Fast X” red carpet in the Roman Forum’s Temple of Venus, with the Colosseum as a backdrop, in early May. Weeks later, Paramount descended for the June premiere of “M:I 7,” with Tom Cruise prancing down the same Spanish Steps that serve as the setting for spectacular car chases in both movies.

The highly-anticipated UK premiere for the new Barbie movie will take place tonight in London, as Scots actor and Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa will be starring in it alongside Hollywood icons Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Anything more than that would cement a new opening weekend benchmark for the long-running, globe-trotting spy series. “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” currently holds the record with $61 million, followed by 2000’s “Mission: Impossible II” with $57.8 million.

Harrison Ford admitted he wasn’t initially keen on the idea of his iconic Indiana Jones costume. Ford, 80, said when the ensemble was first presented to him, he had several questions before putting on the fedora and other accessories.
