Ross County have paid tribute to their groundsman after he died in a horror house fire in the Highlands. Donald Munro, known as Donnie, passed away following the blaze on St Andrews Road in Dingwall at around 8am on Thursday.The 65-year-old, who was originally from Dunvegan on Skye, has been described as a “gifted” footballer in his youth and an ardent Rangers and County fan.
Tributes have since flooded in and the club's operations manager David O’Connor said Donnie was well-respected for his commitment to the football club.He told the Press and Journal: “Donnie was a part-time employee and volunteer at Ross County for many years.
He was much respected because of his commitment over the years.“It is a tragedy that his life has ended this way. He will always have a special place at Ross County.
He liked a joke and a laugh and he had a great sense of humour. “He was always with us before the game on match day – making sure the pitch was perfect and setting up the goals.
