Prince William will 'shield' Kate Middleton as she 'recuperates' after surgery, a former royal press secretary has claimed. On 17 January, Kensington Palace announced that Kate, 42, had been admitted to hospital for "planned abdominal surgery" and will not return to public duties until after Easter as she is advised to take 10 to 14 weeks to recover.
Almost two weeks later, it was announced that the Princess of Wales had returned to her home in Windsor "to continue her recovery from surgery" and she's said to be "on the mend".
Prince William, 41, has stepped back from Royal duties as he takes care of his wife, Kate, and their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, however, he made his first public appearance since Kate's hospital admission on Wednesday, 7 February, at the London Air Ambulance charity gala dinner.
Whilst at the event, The Prince of Wales said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days.
