Johnny Depp
John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Fathom Events and Vertical have partnered on the U.S. release of Jeanne du Barry, the historical drama marking Johnny Depp‘s first live-action role in a number of years.

Co-written, directed, produced by and co-starring Maïwenn (DNA, My King) the film is set to open nationwide with an exclusive engagement in over 500 theaters beginning May 2nd, after world premiering at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Based on true events, Jeanne du Barry follows Jeanne Vaubernier (Maïwenn), a working-class woman determined to climb the social ladder, using her charms to escape her impoverished life.

Her lover, the Comte du Barry (Melvil Poupaud), wishes to present her to King Louis XV (Depp) and orchestrates a meeting through the influential Duke of Richelieu (Pierre Richard).
