Police issue update on arrested M62 driver after 'runaway electric car brought to stop'
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA suspect held following a dramatic swoop on an electric Jaguar whose brakes had reportedly failed on the M62 has been released 'pending further enquiries', say police.
Officers from Merseyside and Greater Manchester had to use specialist tactics to ram the Jaguar I-PACE and block it between a number of police vehicles, to eventually bring the car to a stop.
Pictures from the scene on March 6 showed the black vehicle wedged in between two Matrix vehicles. Yesterday, the Manchester Evening Newsreported that a 31-year-old man from Bolton had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing a public nuisance.
Today, a spokeswomen for Merseyside Police said: "He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
