Pep Guardiola wants Julian Alvarez to be part of his Manchester City squad this season, amid interest in the striker from Atletico Madrid.
Atletico have contacted City over Alvarez's transfer status after the striker's Olympic campaign ended on Friday. Alvarez had previously said he would have to think about his future after being left out for the bigger games last season.
In response, Guardiola was fairly blunt about his striker's comments, with Alvarez moving to cool the situation but failing to confirm he wants to stay at City.
Now, Atletico have opened talks and must meet City's valuation if they want to persuade City to sell.
