The summer of 1994, a time when festival pints cost just 89p and smartphones were yet to be invented. This was also the season when a relatively unknown band named Oasis performed at a free music festival in Avenham Park, Preston.
As the first year of sixth form came to an end, the talk around college was about who would be attending the Heineken Festival that year.
Outfits were meticulously planned, fake IDs obtained, and a meeting spot decided by the willow tree, halfway up the hill. For four nights in June, the park was the hotspot.
The line-up wasn't the main attraction, although the prospect of Inspiral Carpets headlining the opening night was exciting.
