Pair charged after collision left person needing to be cut from vehicle

Fire crews used specialist cutting equipment to remove a person from a car following a crash in Barrhead yesterday. Emergency crews attended the two-vehicle smash on Glasgow Road in the town shortly before 9am.A man and a woman, both aged 37, have been charged in connection with the incident.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving two cars on Glasgow Road in Barrhead shortly after 8.50am on Monday, July 31. “Emergency services attended and one man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.“A woman was checked over by paramedics at the scene.”A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to safely remove one casualty trapped within their vehicle.“Crews left the scene at 9.51am after ensuring the area was made safe.” Don't miss the latest Renfrewshire headlines – sign up to our free daily newsletter here
