It was bittersweet for Outlander fans this week as the latest episode dropped following a break of one week in the schedule.
The broadcast of episode eight, season seven brought as much sadness as happiness as it spelled the midseason finale and the start of a new Droughtlander that could last until early 2024.But lucky for followers of the smash-hit Starz show set in Scotland, episode eight was an utter belter, with die-hards hailing it “amazing” and “one of the best” of the entire series. After Rob Cameron kidnapped little Jemmy and disappeared into the night at the end of the last instalment, he took the youngster back to the 18th century to get the French gold hidden in a cave near Fraser’s Ridge.Roger and Buck then headed to the stones at Craigh Na Dun to go back in time and find Jemmy.
Meanwhile, back in 1777, Jamie was looking a bit worse for wear at the end of the last episode but happily, he was rescued by Claire yet again and went on to fight in the second battle Saratoga. The first half of the season ended with Jamie, Claire and Ian on a British ship home.
They’d been asked to bring Jamie’s cousin Simon’s body back to Scotland by General Gates, and the midseason finale ended with them spotting the coast of Scotland in the distance and smiling with relief.
