A mum who said there was 'nothing she could do' as her baby died in her arms is now campaigning for STI (sexually transmitted infection) screening to be offered to all women at the beginning of pregnancy.
Kelly Kirk, from Leeds, was told by doctors that her baby would still be alive if testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea had been carried out earlier in her pregnancy.
The mum-of-three said that the thought of anyone else experiencing what she has 'destroys her' and while the test could 'ruin relationships,' it could also save a baby's life.
The 33-year-old was admitted to Leeds General Infirmary at 4.30am on September 13, 2023, at 18 weeks pregnant, after experiencing pain and spot bleeding.
