A year on from the shocking murder of the innocent nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, her mother has said she still 'feels numb'.
Olivia was killed on August 22, 2022, after Thomas Cashman shot blindly through the front door of her family home on the hunt for convicted drug dealer Joseph Nee.
Earlier this year, Cashman was convicted of murder and handed a life term sentence with a 42-year minimum term. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, mum Cheryl Korbel, who was also wounded in the shooting, said she remembers the day 'like it was yesterday'. Numb," she added. She said she planned to “constantly mention” Olivia’s name on the first anniversary of her murder. Cheryl said Olivia left a lasting impact on the community and has since been remembered with a garden in Court Hey Park, Knowsley, which features a butterfly mosaic and will be used by schoolchildren for workshops.
