North Lanarkshire parents and pupils demonstrate against school bus cuts

Families from across North Lanarkshire staged a demonstration outside the council’s headquarters to protest about forthcoming cuts to school transport.Parents and pupils from impacted areas including Bargeddie, Wishaw and Cumbernauld joined forces for the event on the last day of term, arriving with banners and posters outside the Civic Centre before councillors met for their quarterly assembly meeting.Around 70 people took part in the latest protest – against the forthcoming cut to school buses which means pupils living between two and three miles from classes will no longer qualify for transport – and organisers say they will continue battling against the cost-cutting decision.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
