Harrison Butker has been going viral after a commencement speech during a Benedictine College graduation ceremony on Saturday (May 11).
The 28-year-old Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s speech has drawn a lot of criticism online, for his aims at abortion rights, the LGBTQ+ community, working women and more. Keep reading to find out more… “For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment,” he said at one point. “I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you.” “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world,” Harrison continued.
He also quoted a Taylor Swift song and referred to her as his teammate’s girlfriend, called Pride Month as representing “deadly sins,” and took aim at IVF, surrogacy and President Joe Biden.
Now, an executive at the NFL is speaking out, saying his views do not reflect those of the league. “Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity,” NFL senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer Jonathan Beane told People. “His views are not those of the NFL as an organization.
