Michelle Downes, 38, called 999 straight away after then-two-year-old Jenson became covered in boiling water. He was flown to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where Jenson was given a skin graft.
He had to have his entire upper body bandaged as a result - leaving him looking "like a mummy". The horror unfolded in the brief moment that Jenson's dad, Jamie, had turned his back to put a used tea bag in the bin after making a brew at the family home in Cheshire, on May 17 last year.
