A mum woke up with paralysis on one side of her body after suffering a stroke. Alli Bate, from Warrington, was enjoying a meal with friends when she began experiencing a severe migraine.

The 39-year-old said she went home to "sleep it off" but her condition rapidly deteriorated. She was rushed to hospital on August 7 last year after which it was discovered she suffered from a haemorrhagic stroke.

This occurs when blood from an artery suddenly bleeds into the brain and has a survival rate of around 10 per cent, the Liverpool Echo reports.
