Motorist caught trying to drive down wrong way of motorway to avoid traffic

The emergency services have been dealing with a crash on the M56 this afternoon near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, with traffic backed up between junctions 14 and 16 westbound.

Posting on Twitter, officers said: "We appreciate the #M56 is busy between J16 & J14, but that does not mean that people can take it upon themselves to cause more danger by driving the wrong way on the motorway to avoid the queue. "This driver stopped before entering the roundabout & reported for offence."
