Motherwell Athletics Club athletes have enjoyed success at various recent competitions.At the Scottish Athletics Half-Marathon Championship race at the Inverness Half-Marathon, senior endurance athlete David Gardiner was the first M50 to cross the finish line in 1.15:15.Also running in that race, Jonathan Moore finished 17th overall in 1.10:04, which was a personal best by 1 minute 19 seconds.Marc Tierney also achieved a personal best with 1.25:56, with Julie McKean clocking 1.44:23 and Nicola McKenzie with 2.14:31.The club also had 17 senior endurance athletes run the Down By the River 10k, organised by Cambuslang Harriers.Lilly Jeffrey, Lucy Saez, John Burns, Ross McLean, Peter Gallagher, David McLeary, Jac Molloy, Emma Morris, Mick Cushley, Anthony Devlin, Derek O’Neill, Maryann Milne, Gayle Forbes, Emma Smith, Gillian McCaffer, Julia Perrie and Colin Gardner all took on the course along the banks of the River Clyde.John Burns was third in the M60 category, with several personal best times recorded.Senior endurance athlete Fiona Greaney also took on the Acorn Trails Pollok Park 10k trail race.Junior track and field athlete Emily was first in the Hamilton and Blantyre Schools’ Cross Country 1500m race, meaning she qualifies for the final, on March 27.Club spokesperson Jac Molloy said: “All her coaches and team-mates are so very proud and all her hard work is paying off.”Meanwhile, Alan Robertson won the Masters 60m race at the 4J Studios Scottish Athletics National Indoor Championships at Grangemouth in February.The M45 runner came out on top in both his heat and the final, in a time of 7.48 seconds.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news,
