Meta is speaking out about the death hoax surrounding Lil Tay. Last week, it was reported that the 14-year-old internet star and her brother had died at after a statement was posted to her official Instagram page.
However, fans grew concerned after it was confirmed that the LA police department and the medical examiner, “had no information on an investigation into the death of anyone” with Lil Tay‘s name. Lil Tay then issued a statement in which she claimed that her account had been hacked and she was alive and well. Keep reading to find out what Meta said about the situation… A spokesperson for the company, which owns Facebook and Instagram, told TMZ that Lil Tay‘s Instagram had been hacked by a third party and Meta had helped her recover the account.
In a statement released on Thursday (August 8), Lil Tay said that she was “heartbroken” over the situation. “It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours.
All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess,” she said.
