Police van lands on its ROOF as four taken to hospital following crash

This was the scene after a dramatic crash left a police car on its roof in Tameside. Four people were taken to hospital as a precaution following the collision at the junction of Cavendish Street and Katherine Street, in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed out to the scene following the crash, which involved the police van and a white car. People were urged to avoid the area as police taped off the busy junction on Thursday evening (August 24).

An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News the car's occupants were 'left visually shaken' before being checked over. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 8pm yesterday evening, firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision at the junction of Cavendish Street and Katherine Street. The incident involved two vehicles, one of which was a police van. “Four casualties were assessed at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service before being conveyed to hospital for precautionary checks.
