Pep Guardiola has explained his reasoning behind handing Oscar Bobb a first-ever Manchester City start in the Premier League against Brentford.

The City boss made three changes from the side that drew to Chelsea on Saturday, opting to rest Jeremy Doku after the winger struggled against Malo Gusto.

Bobb was chosen to replace Doku as Kevin De Bruyne also dropped to the bench alongside Nathan Ake, with John Stones returning to the side in his hybrid defence/midfield role. "That's why we prefer maybe fewer minutes than 90." Bobb has made 15 appearances for City so far this season, scoring two goals including the sensational and dramatic winner against Newcastle last month.

The 20-year-old also started the Carabao Cup game against the Geordies in September as well as both FA Cup matches so far (vs Huddersfield and Tottenham).
