Scots dad said 20-year cocaine and Valium addiction left him with drug-induced psychosis

A Scots dad who battled drug addiction for 17-years is hoping to prove change is possible after turning his life around with the help of mental health groups.

Paul Barrett, from Blantyre, has struggled with substance abuse since his teenage years with him racking up huge debts to cope with his mental health.

The 34-year-old thought he would die from his dependence on cocaine and street Valium which seen him sent to jail for robbery and steal from family, reports Glasgow Live.However, after a bout of drug-induced psychosis - which left him fearing he had killed someone and that someone was following him - Paul decided to turn his life around.

Paul now says he has everything he ever wanted and is hoping his story will inspire others.He said: "My addicted started when I was a teenager, I started doing ecstasy at house parties.
