Fern Britton issued a simple, six-word response to the question of whether she'd spoken to Phillip Schofield recently. In a recent chat with the Daily Mail, the 66 year old was asked if she had seen Phillip since leaving This Morning – which they both presented – in 2009, to which she simply replied: "I haven't spoken to him, no." Rumours swirled at the time of her exit that Fern was unhappy about Phillip earning more than her for the same job.

Now appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, Fern had insisted she wouldn't be talking about recent developments on This Morning, such as Phillip's exit after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague. "I will truthfully say I have nothing to tell them about This Morning over the last few years, because I haven't been there," she said.

When questioned if it was her decision to leave This Morning, Fern admitted: "To leave This Morning? Ultimately, yes. I loved it and I would probably still be there if....Phillip and I were not getting on very well at that stage." She said: "Lots of the men you work with are much more fussed about their piece to camera and how many words they've got than they are about you." Her words follow Fern's latest jab at the TV channel after leaving This Morning.

On Wednesday's episode of CBB, she said she'd leave if her former co-worker came on the show. Chatting with Gary Goldsmith, she first said her time on This Morning was sometimes "tricky at times", likening it to the monarchy during a chat about the Royal Family with Gary, who is Princess Kate's uncle.
