Man, 24, charged with rape after alleged sex attack on woman in Hyde

A man has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault after an alleged attack on a woman in Hyde.

The woman was reportedly attacked at around 6.40am on Friday morning (July 5) while walking past Grafton Street, just off Clark Way.

An investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police into the 'serious sexual assault' as the area was cordoned off and forensics attended the scene. He has been remanded in custody and will be appearing at Tameside Magistrates' Court on Thursday (July 11). Detective Inspector Christopher Dean, from GMP’s Tameside district, said: “All reports of incidents such as this are taken with the utmost seriousness by officers and I hope this charge demonstrates the urgency with which we’ve worked to secure an outcome. “I would like to thank members of the public for their support and the victim for her bravery as we continue to support her throughout this investigation.”
