Forensic officers comb flat as man arrested after suspected arson attack

A man has been arrested following a suspected arson attack on a flat in Radcliffe. Emergency services, including firefighters and police, were called to reports of a fire at an address in Five Quarters shortly after 9pm on Friday (July 19).

An image shared on social media showed flames pouring out of a ground floor flat on the residential street. Fire crews spent around three hours battling the blaze.

A flat on the street remained taped off on Saturday afternoon. Forensic officers could be seen working inside the address. Images from the scene showed charred brickwork above the front door and downstairs window Several items of furniture, which appeared to have been damaged in the fire, were strewn across the pavement outside.
