People across London have cast their vote in the London mayoral election. The vote took place simultaneously with elections to the London Assembly and some local council by-elections in the capital.
The mayor of London is responsible for covering policing, transport, housing, planning, economic development, arts, culture and the environment with an annual budget of around £18 billion per year.
Mayors are typically elected for a period of four years, with no limit to the number of terms served. The candidates who stood in this year's mayoral election were incumbent Sadiq Khan (Labour), Susan Hall (Conservative), Rob Blackie (Lib Dem), Zoe Garbett (Green), Howard Cox (Reform UK), Natalie Campbell (Ind), Andreas Michli (Ind) and Count Binface.
