Lomond Radio hits DAB airwaves across Dumbarton and the Vale
dailyrecord.co.ukLomond Radio has hit the DAB network across Dumbarton and the Vale.The popular community station was started up by a group of friends four years ago who wanted to help out their local communities during the Covid-19 pandemic.Lomond Radio was originally known as Leven Lockdown Radio with good friends Alan Caldwell and Paul Lucas broadcasting live from studios in their home.They wanted to fill the void in the airwaves that was left after the fall of local radio stations Castle Rock FM and Your Radio.Since its creation in March 2020 Lomond Radio has gone from strength to strength.Earlier this year, the station began to broadcast on DAB Digital Radio all over Glasgow.Now it’s expanding its reach even further with the station increasing the broadcast area through the new transmitters on Langbank, Dunoon and Gourock last Thursday.The transmitters allow residents to listen to the radio station in Dumbarton, Vale of Leven, Helensburgh, Greenock, and Dunoon on DAB Digital Radio.The station is made up entirely of volunteers and broadcasts from their state-of-the-art studio in Strathleven House, Dumbarton.It offers a full and varied schedule of different programming from funk and soul to love songs, rock and its popular sports show.The station prides itself on shining a light on the local bands and artists in shows such as Talent Spotlight and Fresh Sounds and aims to give a voice to local charities and voluntary organisations.Director and chairman, Alan Caldwell commented: “We’ve been working to bring Lomond Radio on DAB Digital Radio to the local area for some time now and delighted to be able to confirm that as from Thursday (August 1), you’ll be able to hear us on DAB digital radio across the local area and stay listening as
