Locals furious over plans for 'eyesore' 16m phone mast next to their homes

Plans for a 16m high phone mast in Armadale have been met with resistance from locals.Reading-based Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited has applied for permission to erect the telecommunications monopole at Birkenshaw Way.But people living nearby are objecting to the plans, saying it would be an “eyesore to the community”, is too close to houses and questioned the safety of the masts.One said: “With the height and length of the cabinets and pole I believe this would be huge loss of green land in our community.

This would reduce the use for wildlife but also for young children able to play safely around this area.“I also believe the height of this pole is a detrimental to the area as it is at a significant height and this would not fit in with the natural surroundings and make an eyesore to the community, which in turn would damage the mental health of people who would like family/friends to visit their home.“As yet it is unproven that this technology is safe.
